Tile is where a project starts to feel real.

At our Travis Country renovation, the details are beginning to come together: a custom shower wrapped in oversized subway tile with contrasting trim, patterned floor tile, and a reclaimed brick herringbone floor that brings warmth and character to the space.

Every material was selected to create a home that feels timeless, layered and built to last.

We can’t wait to show the finished result.

A major milestone at our Travis Country project. With the drywall hung, the home finally starts to feel like a home. The spaces are defined, the details stand out and it's time for the interior finishes to take center stage.

A well-designed home should tell you exactly where to go.

One of the most important principles in residential architecture is creating hierarchy. Instead of one large façade, this home is composed of smaller forms that guide your eye to the front entry. Changes in rooflines, materials and architectural details create a natural focal point, making the home feel both welcoming and well-proportioned.

It's a subtle design strategy, but it has a big impact. Homes with clear architectural hierarchy feel timeless because every element has a purpose.

Great design isn't about making every part of a home stand out. It's about knowing what should.

Open floor plans don't have to feel like one big room.

One of our favorite design strategies is creating distinct spaces without closing them off. In this home, architectural details—not walls—define how each area is used. A column creates a natural transition from the entry to the dining room. The staircase separates the dining and living spaces. The wood wainscoting draws your eye to the living room, making it feel like its own destination.

The result is a home that feels organized and intimate while remaining completely open.

That flexibility makes everyday life more comfortable and entertaining effortless. Each space has its own identity, but together they create a home that adapts to the way you live.

Great design isn't just about what you build. It's about what you *don't* have to build.

Home means something different for every generation.

This private one-bedroom suite was designed so a grandmother could live independently while staying connected to family. Complete with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and living space, it offers the comfort and privacy of a home of its own, all under the same roof.

Whether it's aging parents, returning adult children or long-term guests, thoughtfully designed multigenerational spaces make it possible to stay close without giving up independence.

Great design isn't just about how a home looks. It's about helping families live better together.

Luxury isn't about adding more. It's about choosing the right materials and letting them work together.

In this home, warmth comes from layers of natural textures—white oak, stone, brass and soft fabrics—rather than bold colors or excessive detail. Each material has room to breathe, creating a space that feels calm, inviting and timeless.

Great design doesn't demand attention. It earns it through balance.

The front door gets all the attention, but this is the entrance most homeowners actually use.

Connected to the rear-alley garage and located just off the kitchen, this mud room creates a transition between the outside world and the heart of the home. Shoes come off, backpacks get dropped, groceries land on the counter and everyday clutter stays contained.

It's not the flashiest room in the house, but it's one of the hardest-working. Thoughtful spaces like this make it easier to stay organized, keep the house clean and simplify the routines you repeat every day.

Pro tip: If your bathroom feels too small for both a freestanding tub and a walk-in shower, a wet room might be the answer.

By placing the tub inside the shower enclosure, you can often fit both features in nearly the same footprint that a large shower would require on its own. The result is a space that feels larger, functions better and delivers the spa-like experience many homeowners want without adding square footage.

Good design isn't about making rooms bigger. It's about making every inch work harder.

An outdoor kitchen should feel like an extension of the house, not an afterthought.

At this Zilker home, the grill is just steps from the main kitchen through a swing door—because nobody wants to wrestle with a sliding door while carrying a tray full of burgers, drinks and sides. The covered design means you can cook outside 365 days a year, whether it's a sunny summer afternoon or a rainy Texas evening.

The best outdoor spaces aren't just beautiful. They're convenient enough that you'll actually use them.

A small design detail that makes a big difference.

The classic three-sconce, two-mirror setup looks great, but it also requires a very wide vanity. In many secondary bathrooms, that simply isn't realistic.

A double-arm sconce gives you a similar look and balanced lighting while taking up far less wall space. It's one of those simple design moves that helps a room feel intentional without forcing the floor plan to accommodate it.

Good design isn't about following trends. It's about knowing when to adapt them.
