Here is a good instructional image from the people at Pentair for their equipment. Other models and brands will be similar, except the drain plugs may be located in different spots. This does not show booster pumps for cleaners. They typically have one plug, and it is usually under the plumbing in the front of the pump but can be on the side on some models.
