Night work on I 35 in Austin.

While traffic keeps moving, our Lone Star Paving crews are out there getting it done, putting down around 2,400 tons a day on one of the busiest corridors in Texas.

It takes a full team to keep production like this going. Plant crews, truck drivers, operators, and ground teams all working together through the night.

Long hours. Tight windows. Big production.

Mill and fill in action across Travis County neighborhoods.

As part of the FY 2025 Travis County HMAC Overlay project, our crew milled the existing roadway and placed 960 tons of new asphalt to give these streets a fresh start.

With a strong presence in the Houston market, GMJ helps us grow in one of Texas's fastest-moving regions and strengthens our ability to deliver the high-quality asphalt and paving our customers count on.

GMJ will operate as part of Durwood Green Construction, a subsidiary of Lone Star Paving, and we’re proud to support the team as they continue serving their local communities with the same focus on safety, leadership, and doing the job right.

The work we do at Lone Star Paving is only as good as the people behind it.

This year, our team was honored with three 2025 Quality in Construction Awards from the National Asphalt Pavement Association for Texas Department of Transportation projects in the Austin District:

• SH 130 – Travis County (advancing to consideration for the 2026 Sheldon G. Hayes Award)
• IH 35 – Williamson County
• RM 1869 – Williamson County

These awards reflect the crews who show up every day, look out for one another, and take pride in doing the job right. The early mornings, long days, and attention to detail matter, and this recognition belongs to our people.

Thank you to Jimmy Totten, Superintendent on SH 130 and RM 1869, Freddy Escobar, Superintendent on IH 35, and Allen Knox for the guidance and support behind this work. We’re also grateful to the crews on each of these projects for the effort they put in every day.
