Most people dream about owning land in the Texas Hill Country, but these homeowners weren’t sure they were ready for rural living.

Instead of jumping straight into their forever home, we built a guest house first so they could experience the land and lifestyle.

It didn’t take long before they knew.

Shortly after completing the guest house, they asked us to begin building the main house.

Thankful these clients said yes to the Hill Country, and yes to Schmidt Custom Homes.

At our Short Mama’s Bistro project, this old shed is getting a pretty incredible second life.

As part of this historic renovation in downtown Dripping Springs, we’re turning it into an intimate space full of character. The original structure was covered in old barn wood, and before we took it down, we salvaged as much as we could so, we can repurpose it throughout the build.

There’s something special about keeping pieces of the original story alive while creating something completely new. Excited to see the space come together.

You’ve probably noticed the change taking shape in downtown Dripping Springs, let us give you a quick update.

The roof is going up, windows and doors have been installed, and inspections are taking place so we can move onto the next phase.

Good things take time. This one’s worth it.

Last year during Founders Day, we stood right here in downtown Dripping Springs and celebrated the beginning of something special.

Now, one year later, the parade is back… and so is the progress.

This historic home is well on it’s way to becoming a bistro for our community and there is no better backdrop than Founders Day weekend to reflect on how far it’s come.
