The easiest summer lawn fix takes 30 seconds. โฑ๏ธ
Here's the hack: raise your mower blade.
Most people cut their grass too short โ and in Texas summer, that's a death sentence. Short grass exposes soil to direct sun. The soil dries out faster. The roots stress. The lawn fries.
Tall grass does the opposite. It shades the soil. Shaded soil holds moisture longer. Your lawn literally cools itself. ๐ฑ
Here's where to set your mower height:
โ Bermuda: 1.5โ2 inches
โ Zoysia: 2โ2.5 inches
โ St. Augustine: 3.5โ4 inches
One adjustment. That's it.
You'll water less. Your roots stay cooler. And your lawn survives July and August without turning into a crispy brown mess.
This only works if you have the right grass for your yard's sun and shade conditions. Not sure what you have โ or what you should have?
