May is National…

BBQ MONTH. Our favorite kind of month 🍗☀️😎

You know what we noticed when we started Jace & Bowen Custom Builders? Most outdoor spaces fail the summer test.

The grill’s roasting in full sun. The patio looks 3x smaller the second you put a table and chairs on it. The kitchen window faces the driveway instead of the yard, so you can’t see the kids from the sink. Nowhere to run a gas line. Somebody decided “outdoor living” meant a slab and a ceiling fan.

We think about this stuff because we love a good Texas BBQ tailgate night. Weekends on the grill, kids running through the yard or splashing in the pool, family pulling up chairs while the game is on. We know that’s where core memories are happening.

National BBQ month reminds us to not only eat all the beans, coleslaw and brisket we can get our hands on…but to talk to you about your goals for your outdoor living space when budgeting for your new custom home!!

The most important thing ever built in this world isn’t a house.

It is a family. A person’s character. A childhood worth remembering. A home where someone felt safe enough to become themselves.

You don’t get a blueprint for that! There’s no permit for it, no inspection, and it is a non-stop job. Years of small decisions made with love, by women who show up again and again even when it is so hard.

To the mothers raising children now, to the ones who’s kids are “out of the nest,” for the women still waiting and praying for them, for the women missing their moms today, and to the ones who opened their arms to adopt and call a child their own: we see what you’re building and we want to take a moment to thank you.

Happy Mother’s Day today…and honestly, every day ❤️

Mother’s Day is around the corner!

We know she’s going to get flowers, a gift and a card that says the right things, and you’ll likely swing for a big ticket item too. We can’t wait to celebrate all the moms in our lives.

But one thing is also going to happen the day after the day all about her…she’s still going to be carrying laundry from one side of the house to the other.
The entryway is still going to collect everything by the door and the pantry is still going to be a little too small.

She’s been adapting to the house you are currently in for years and she’s good at it, but adapting isn’t the same as having a home that was built for her.

A custom home is one of the biggest decisions a family makes.

We think the conversations that happen before and during the first sketches matter as much as the build itself!

The questions above are the ones we tend to come back to when we have those initial meetings with you. In order for us to achieve our goal of building you a home you love for decades, it’s imperative we understand what the house needs to do once you’re living in it.

Square footage is easy to quote and it’s quick. But we’d be doing you a disservice if that’s all we thought about when initially estimating your home. Understanding what a family needs from a home takes more time, and it’s where you’ll see the difference between a good custom home and a great one.

If you’re starting to think about building, pay attention to how a builder approaches that first conversation. The questions they ask will tell you a lot about the home you’ll end up with.
