Love happy bees enjoying breakfast on my datura. One of my favorite plants. Obviously the bees like it too. There must've been 20 bees all buzzing about.

Then after enjoying visiting the bees, a man walking down the sidewalk stopped and told me how much he enjoys my garden and that it provided inspiration for him and his wife to do much the same thing.

Both made me so happy. Wonderful way to start Saturday. I've been inspired by my two encounters.

Never think your life-even a bee's-does not matter even if in small ways.

A traditional folk remedy, known among people in Mississippi's hill country for at least a century, may provide some reli...

105º on Monday. Forecast for 104º today. So I am inside thinking about gardening. Just wanted to share a quick post about my favorite garden tool: the Japanese hori hori aka Japanese digging tool or soil knife. I posted one from the 80s that I still use and one that I bought several years ago. The old has been used so much that the teeth on the saw side are worn into small scallops.

With a sharp knife on one side and a saw on the other and a pointy tip, this multi-use tool conquers many garden tasks easily. Weeding, planting and even sawing through though roots.

Maybe I will put this tool back into use next week when the temps drop below 100º.

Stay cool!
