One of the most meaningful projects we've ever been a part of was helping rebuild the home of Cari Anderson.

It was about restoring a sense of home, healing, and hope. We were honored to stand beside Cari and the community through the rebuild, and we’ll always remember the strength, grace, and resilience she showed throughout the journey.

Thank you to everyone who came alongside us to make it possible. Cari’s home will forever remind us why we do what we do.

This was easily one of the best moments of my life.

Cari Anderson never imagined in her wildest dreams that this many people in our community could care about her. When Cari called me, she’d spent over 20 years of her life living in squalor and solitude, fighting severe brain trauma that affects every aspect of her life. All Cari asked for was for her cold case to get a fresh look. R***d, beaten, stabbed and left for dead-naked in a field- Cari told me her survival wasn’t a miracle, rather it was a daily struggle. She hadn’t gone to a movie or dinner in decades. She couldn’t remember the last time her home could be considered sanitary. After our story aired on Cari’s cold case, people in our community stood up like I’ve never seen before and rallied to change Cari’s life. It is truly indescribable the work that has gone into her home. To think when I first met Cari she had nowhere to sit in her home, you couldn’t move without roaches and rodents crawling you, and there wasn’t a clean dish or clothing in sight. Now-Cari’s house in pristine. The construction and repairs and fumigation has turned it into a completely new home. Everything inside is new-and so many volunteers put their heart and soul into decorating, and it is simply beautiful. I know everyone there today will never ever forget what it was like to see Cari’s reaction. There really are no words. Tomorrow night on 17 News at Five we will share the story of the incredible transformation and the tireless work from the community to make it happen. I cannot wait for everyone to see how different Cari is from the first time I shared her story. This is one you won’t want to miss. Cari is a very special woman, and I am just in awe of the love and generosity all around us. Again, an unforgettable experience. I’ll never have the words to thank everyone. Tune in tomorrow at five.
