🇺🇸 Never Forget

A quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001, when the peace of our Nation was shattered by terrorists.

Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives taken from us, honor the heroes who answered the call, & keep their families in the heart of our Nation.

Above all, we must ensure the memory of 9/11 never fades, but is carried from one generation of Americans to the next.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

September 10th, 2001.

This date has always intrigued me due to the tragic events of the very next day.

It was a Monday. People went to work. Kids went to school. Flights crossed the country. Families ate dinner together.

People likely made plans for the week ahead, set alarms for the next morning and went to bed thinking Tuesday would be another ordinary day.

For nearly 3,000 people, it was their final full day on Earth.

They didn’t know it, none of them.

There were final dinners that nobody knew were final dinners. Final goodnights. Final drives home. Final bedtime stories. Final phone calls.

Final moments spent worrying about things that would mean absolutely nothing 24 hours later.

Across America, nobody knew that the world they woke up to on September 10th would be profoundly different by the following morning.

September 10th was completely ordinary.

Until looking back, it wasn’t for so many souls.

Never take tomorrow for granted, you truly never know what might happen.

Yesterday was Harmony's birthday. She helps around the office and helps bid jobs with her mom during the summer. There's is never a dull moment when she's around - she's the life of the party.

If you see Magan today, tell her Happy Birthday!
She keeps the office running and does anything else she can to help around here. We are super grateful for her and the work she puts into this company.
And she's about to have her first grandbaby. 🥰

Everyone at Cox Paving is back to work after enjoying a week of vacation.
June 29th was Jerry's birthday. He never said what his favorite holiday was, or if he even had one, but anyone who knew him knows he loved 4th of July vacation. He always said, "We work hard, then we play hard." - and he did. We spent summers at the lake for the 4th of July for as long as I can remember. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great vacation, and wherever he was, there was always a good time. He loved people, loved his family, and most of all pointed everyone to Jesus. He made sure we knew Jesus was the answer to everything.
Especially this time of year, I reflect on what many of us get to enjoy and the road he paved (pun intended) to take care of his family even after he was gone. He worked hard so we would have what we needed.
I always love it when someone calls the office or we're out looking at jobs and a customer has a story about him. He touched a lot of lives, and we are incredibly grateful for the time we had with him.
Life isn't the same without him here, but I hope we honor him in everything we do moving forward.
