Did you know box turtles help keep slug and snail populations in check and even aid in seed dispersal ? To make them feel at home, plant native shrubs, ferns and berry‑producing plants , leave areas of leaf litter and brush piles , and add a shallow water feature for drinking and soaking . Small sunny clearings provide basking and nesting sites . If you’re ready to transform your yard into a thriving, turtle‑friendly oasis, our team is here to help — from design to installation. A sunny day like today reminds us that summer is near, and this backyard transformation is on schedule. While the focus is usually on the finished pool and patio, what’s happening now is just as important: grading, compaction and drainage. When done right, water naturally flows away from the pool and deck ; if overlooked, it can lead to pooling, shifting and costly repairs down the road . Our team is engineering the base and slopes so this space will stay comfortable and safe all season . If you’d like a backyard ready for summer gatherings, reach out and let us handle the heavy lifting.

Looking for a way to reduce mosquitoes naturally? Invite dragonflies. These agile hunters can eat hundreds of mosquitoes per day . To attract them, provide a water source—dragonflies lay their eggs in still or slow‑moving ponds . Enhance your pond with native aquatic plants like water lilies, irises and reeds , and include flat stones or tall grasses where adults can perch . Plant perennials such as joe pye w**d, asters and black‑eyed Susans nearby to support their prey base, and avoid chemical pesticides . A balanced habitat keeps your yard thriving and lets these fascinating insects handle pest control.

Aerial progress update from one of our current paver installation projects. 🧱

This custom walkway and patio space is beginning to come together beside this beautiful brick home in Central NY. Our team is currently installing multi-toned interlocking pavers over a carefully leveled crushed stone base to create a durable, long-lasting hardscape designed for both function and appearance.

One of the most important parts of any paver project happens underneath the surface. Proper grading, base preparation, leveling, and layout planning all play a major role in how the finished space performs over time.

The drone footage gives a great perspective of the ongoing installation process, including the material staging, active stone placement, and overall project layout as the space continues to take shape.

We’re excited to continue bringing this entrance and outdoor area to life.

A well‑cared‑for lily can be a highlight of your garden year after year. Keep them in bright, indirect light and maintain temperatures around the mid‑60s to 70°F. Water when the top inch of soil dries, allowing excess to drain away, and add fertilizer in spring and during budding. Be aware that many lilies are highly toxic to cats. In winter, mulch the bulbs and avoid waterlogged soil; in summer, remove spent blooms and stake taller varieties. Thoughtful maintenance is part of the intentional landscapes we design and build. Reach out if you’d like guidance on a comprehensive outdoor project.

A beautiful outdoor space is about more than the finished photo.

The reality is that many of the most important parts of a landscaping project are the details homeowners never actually see.

Proper excavation. Drainage planning. Grading. Compaction. Material selection. Long-term structural preparation.

These are the things that help patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living spaces continue performing well over time, especially with Central NY weather conditions.

We recently published a new blog discussing the hidden details that separate premium landscaping from average work and why thoughtful planning matters long before the finishing touches go in.

If you’re planning spring or summer outdoor projects, this is a great read before starting the process.
