Today, we’re celebrating National Food Bank Day by recognizing the importance of giving back to the communities we call home.

Over the years, our Flanigan Family has proudly volunteered with the Maryland Food Bank, and more recently, we had the opportunity to volunteer alongside the Maryland Women of Asphalt to help support their mission of fighting hunger and providing food to Maryland families in need.

We’re proud to see our team come together to make a difference, not only on the job, but in our community, too. Because being part of the Flanigan Family means looking out for one another and giving back.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month; a time to remind one another that looking out for our people goes beyond the jobsite.

Construction workers make up about 7.4% of the U.S. workforce, yet account for roughly 17.9% of all su***de deaths. These numbers are a reminder that mental health and su***de prevention deserve the same attention, care, and commitment we give to physical safety.

At Flanigan, our people are our family. Take the time to check in with your coworkers, listen without judgment, and remind someone that they don't have to face a difficult time alone.

A conversation can make a difference. A simple “Are you okay?” could save a life.

We’re always looking for opportunities to connect, learn, and build relationships within the communities we serve.

Recently, the Flanigan team had the opportunity to attend the Restore Baltimore Employer Panel, hosted by CCBC at the National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation, as well as the Minority Outreach Fair, hosted by MWMCA.

Events like these give us the chance to meet new people, share what we do, learn from others, and explore opportunities to strengthen our workforce and our industry.

There’s no better way to fuel a hard-working crew than with a great cup of coffee!

We brought in Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck to treat the hardworking men and women on our BWI Runway Rehabilitation project. From early mornings to overnights, our crews continue to put in the work to keep this important project moving forward.

At Flanigan, employee appreciation isn’t just something we talk about; it’s part of who we are. We’re family, and we take care of our family.

We were proud to welcome Camp NAWIC back for another year to our Monroe Street Asphalt Plant for a day of learning, discovery, and hands-on experiences!

Campers toured our asphalt plant, explored our Quality Control Lab to learn how asphalt is produced and tested, and got to hear from the Maryland Women of Asphalt about the many rewarding career paths in our industry.

Investing in the next generation is an important part of who we are. We're grateful for the opportunity to help inspire future leaders and show these young women what's possible in construction.

Celebrating Rick’s 15 Years with Flanigan!

Since joining the Flanigan family in 2011 as a mechanic, Rick has built an impressive career defined by dedication, excellence, and a commitment to helping those around him. He quickly advanced to Road Mechanic, a role he held for many years before taking on his newest challenge as Senior Shop Foreman in January 2026.

Throughout his career, Rick’s commitment to safety and operational excellence has never gone unnoticed. He has received numerous Safety and Operations Excellence recognitions, reflecting the pride he takes in his work and the example he sets for others.

Beyond his work in the shop, Rick is always willing to share his experience and knowledge, mentoring younger mechanics and helping the next generation grow. And, of course, his great sense of humor and genuine kindness have a way of brightening everyone’s day.

Rick, thank you for 15 years of hard work, leadership, and being someone your coworkers can count on. We’re grateful to have you as part of the Flanigan Family!
