We're proud to share that Kimball Construction received two safety awards from the Maryland AGC this year — the Safety Excellence Recognition and the Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety Record.

Seven years in a row for the Safety Excellence Recognition. Three times in four years for the Commendation. These aren't numbers that happen by accident — they happen because of the people who show up every day and look out for one another on every jobsite.

To our crews: thank you. Everyone going home safe is what matters most, and you make that possible.

Last week, Kimball Construction Company participated in Construction Safety Week 2026 with Safety Stand Downs held at both our St. Mary’s and Fort Detrick projects.

Teams gathered for toolbox talks and discussions centered around this year’s theme: Recognize. Respond. Respect.

Conversations throughout the week focused on hazard awareness, looking out for one another on the jobsite, and reinforcing the shared responsibility every person has in maintaining a safe work environment. At St. Mary’s, discussions also included the importance of mental health awareness and supporting one another both on and off the job.

Crews at both locations also took time to connect over lunch following the stand downs, with pizza served at St. Mary’s and Chick-fil-A at Fort Detrick.

Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the week and helped make safety engagement a priority across our projects.

We were also proud to receive our 2026 Construction Safety Week Certificate of Participation and unveil this year’s KCC Safety Sticker, featuring artwork from our Kids of KCC Art Contest winner.

The largest concrete pour in Kimball Construction’s 55+ year history.

This six-minute time-lapse captures our team placing more than 1,850 cubic yards of concrete delivered by 186 trucks (Chaney Enterprises) for the dome foundation at St. Mary’s Cement’s Sparrows Point facility.

The continuous placement began around 4:30 a.m. and continued until approximately 8:15 p.m., using two pump trucks (Andrews Equipment) to maintain the flow of concrete and complete the pour without cold joints.

Executing a placement of this scale required careful coordination across crews, equipment, deliveries, and quality control throughout the day. Filming ended that evening, but the crews remained on site well into the night completing finishing and post-placement work.
