Ammonia is a common cleaning product, but did you know it is also used in fertilizers, fuel cells, and an alternative fuel? TRI reforming technology could be used to make this valuable consumer product from nothing more than trash! Read more about it in our article “The Alternative Route” that was recently published in World Fertilizer Magazine. If you are interested in generating transportation-ready diesel fuel and consumer grade chemicals from landfill, agricultural, construction, demolition, and other forms of waste check out our website at http://tri-inc.net/ and contact one of our technical experts at 410-525-2400.

TRI is pleased to announce a non-exclusive partnership with Velocys plc in support of their commercial integrated biorefinery program. As part of being their preferred gasification technology provider, TRI will integrate Velocys’ Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) technology with our gasification technology, both of which have been previously demonstrated. Velocys will relocate its skid-mounted F-T pilot plant from Ohio to our Advanced Development Center in North Carolina. This joint Biomass to Liquids (BTL) demonstration has been selected by the US Department of Energy for the development of smaller scale integrated biorefineries. http://www.velocys.com/press/nr/nr170126.php

Velocys plc (VLS.L), the company at the forefront of smaller scale gas-to-liquids (GTL), is pleased to announce that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ThermoChem Recovery International, Inc. (TRI), establishing a strategic alliance. TRI will be Velocys' preferred supplier of gas...

TRI was successful in acquiring sponsorship from the DOE for Phase 1 pilot plant improvements, including the development of 2nd generation pulse combustor technology. These advancements will lead to more cost-effective integrated biorefineries (IBR) with increased liquid fuel yields enabling smaller scale IBRs utilizing distributed biomass resources like wood and agricultural residuals.

“One of the differentiators of Fulcrum compared to other companies pursuing Fischer-Tropsch (FT) is that it has operated a three-barrel-per-day pilot facility in North Carolina, through its technology providers ThermoChem Recovery International (TRI) and Emerging Fuels Technology (EFT). The operational data and process validations from its pilot facility will play a key role in mitigating scale-up issues at Sierra Biofuels.”

Further to the great news from earlier this month about BP’s multi-project investment in TRI’s long-time client, Fulcrum BioEnergy (http://fulcrum-bioenergy.com/partners/tri/) we are happy to also share a concise graphic developed by BP and Fulcrum that gets to the heart of their, and TRI’s, important collaborative activities.

Using waste materials that would otherwise be uselessly and harmfully sent to landfills, we are collectively producing and supplying high-performance renewable jet fuel to the market, and thereby displacing petroleum fuels on a gallon-for-gallon basis.

We are proud to be working with Fulcrum on these efforts and encourage friends and colleagues to share/use the attached graphic, which is suitable for all types of audiences, to get the exciting point across that jet fuels from waste are here now, and will be a big part of the global renewable economy for years to come.

Fulcrum has identified a gasification system developed by ThermoChem Recovery International, Inc. (TRI) as a highly efficient and economic approach for the conversion of MSW to synthesis gas.

On behalf of TRI, we’d like to extend a sincere thanks to all the brave men and women who have served our country to protect the liberties we enjoy. While this time of year is dedicated to turning our attention to the sacrifice veterans have made for all of us, we want each of you to know that we are constantly reminded throughout the year when we hear of the brave and vigilant actions that our military is performing day and night, around the world. We also thank your families for their sacrifice in supporting you throughout your service. You are heroes and we honor you on this day - and every day.

With deep appreciation,
The TRI Team

TRI is very pleased to share the breaking news that BP has just joined United Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airlines and other blue-chip investors in supporting Fulcrum BioEnergy’s visionary plans to build, own, and operate multiple North American biorefineries converting MSW to jet fuels utilizing TRI’s proprietary steam-reforming technologies. The first such Fulcrum MSW-to-jet project using TRI’s technology and specialized equipment is located in Reno, Nevada and converts 500 tons per day of MSW material into more than 10 million annual gallons of jet fuel. BP has announced that it is investing $30 million into TRI’s client, Fulcrum, with more details here http://www.biofuelsdigest.com/bdigest/2016/11/07/air-bp-and-bp-ventures-invest-30m-in-biojet-producer-fulcrum-bioenergy-ink-500m-gallon-10-year-offtake-deal/.

Our team is hard at work turning one person's trash into another person's treasure! At the TRI Advanced Development Center (ADC) in Durham, North Carolina our process development specialists are currently commissioning our newest addition to the ADC - a small scale pilot reactor that enables us to better isolate and evaluate the steam reforming capabilities of different types of carbonaceous materials. This unit supplements our much larger 4 dry-tons-per day fully-integrated process demonstration unit (PDU).

TRI strongly believes in improved bioenergy and biofuels educational developments and has been a consistent supporter of the educational efforts of the USDA Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest project. One of the products of this project has been a YouTube Channel dedicated to communicating the basics of bioenergy, so that people from diverse backgrounds can understand what bioenergy is and where it fits in their region. The link can be found here; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiFXuor4e2agZo5aApgVpTQ . This YouTube channel hosts 25 microlectures (10-15 mins apiece) that cover a wide array of bioenergy topics from history to conversions and biomass types to environmental considerations. The objective is to enable more dialogue and learning amongst interested people so that bioenergy discussions become more commonplace, an idea that TRI strongly supports.

Biomass is all around us and understanding where it fits in our energy and chemicals paradigm is an important part of using it effectively and sustainable. T...
