Yesterday, we had the privilege of helping a member of our community who has been living with a dangerous situation for far too long.
Several years ago, a large tree fell onto her home and became entangled in communication lines along a main roadway. After losing her husband, she had been living alone and simply did not have the means to have the tree removed. For years, the tree remained resting on her house and over the wires, creating an ongoing hazard and a constant reminder of a problem she couldn’t solve on her own.
When we learned about her situation, we knew something needed to be done.
Working together with Patriot Outdoor Solutions and a few dedicated volunteers, we donated our time, equipment, and labor to make the property safe again. We brought in a bucket truck, wood chipper, trucks, tools, and equipment to carefully lift the tree from the home and communication lines, process it, and haul away all debris. The Patriot Outdoor Solutions team also spent the day improving the property by trimming landscaping, cutting the grass, weed-whacking, and helping tarp the damaged roof area.
No invoices. No contracts. No charge.
Just neighbors helping a neighbor.
This project was a reminder that sometimes the most important work we do isn’t measured in dollars or productivity, it’s measured in the impact we can have on someone’s life. Seeing the relief and gratitude on her face made every minute worthwhile.
