It has been an eventful couple of weeks at the Barrington house! The rough-ins for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems have all been successfully completed, paving the way for the next phase of this exciting project. We’ve also finalized insulation, utilizing a blend of spray foam, fiberglass, and blown-in cellulose to ensure compliance with energy codes. Now, we’re set to start drywall installation next week, marking a significant step forward. Meanwhile, our dedicated siding team has made impressive strides despite the chilly weather. The home is taking on a beautiful Autumn Yellow hue from CertainTeed, complemented by GAF’s deep Hunter Green shingles atop the roof. Exciting progress all around!

Winter has certainly made its presence felt as it arrived early this year, bringing with it a flurry of activity on our end. While we’ve been deeply immersed in the Barrington project, we recently completed a remarkable kitchen transformation just in time for the holiday season. The family was able to host Thanksgiving in a beautifully revamped space that enhances both functionality and style.

We collaborated closely with our clients to redesign the kitchen layout, dramatically improving the flow and maximizing cabinet use. Previously, their stove was cramped in a corner with minimal counter space, and the corner cabinet was hardly usable. By relocating the fridge, we created the room needed to shift the stove and introduce a Super Susan corner cabinet, thus enhancing accessibility. The peninsula was replaced with a spacious island that offers additional cabinet storage and seating, making it a perfect hub for family gatherings.

We chose Wellborn Forest cabinets, opting for the Shelby door style in a stunning painted Arctic finish, while the island features a contrasting Malibu finish—adding depth to the overall design. To ensure a clean finish, taller upper cabinets were installed, complete with a flat molding reaching up to the ceiling. Revamping the layout also required redoing the flooring, which involved a meticulous demo and install process in both the kitchen and living room. Our partnership with Wilder Flooring guaranteed that everything ran smoothly, minimizing the time the family would be without their kitchen. Effective scheduling and solid relationships with subcontractors were vital to completing the project right before Thanksgiving.

We couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and are proud to have transformed this kitchen into a space where lasting memories will be made.

In between projects, it’s essential to show our office some love. Our building was in dire need of a fresh coat of paint, and thanks to Craig Grinnell and his team at C&R Painting, the exterior now shines like new. The landscaping, on the other hand, had become quite overgrown, so we rolled up our sleeves and removed all the old plants, preparing the gardens with nutrient-rich super loam. Come spring, we’ll unveil a vibrant new look with diverse shrubs and plantings. Next on our agenda is a thorough fall cleanup to ensure we’re ready for winter. Just 45 days until the days start getting longer! 🌱✨

Progress on the 3600 sq ft Barrington Project is moving along smoothly, and we’re excited about the advancements made this week. The electric panel has been successfully installed, and now we are eagerly awaiting Eversource's connection—it's time to retire the generator that’s been our constant companion. Thanks to Lapierre Concrete Flatwork, the basement and garage floors are now beautifully poured. With the assistance of Moore's Crane Rental, our storage trusses are securely in place. As we look ahead, the main house rafters are all cut, and we’re gearing up to start the rough framing in the coming days. Onward and upward! 'sCraneRental

Last summer, we had the pleasure of revitalizing a customer's back deck, and they recently reached out to us again for their front portico. Upon inspection, we discovered that the rubber roof had been improperly installed two decades ago, leading to significant mold and rot. Moss buildup along the house was evident, a telltale sign of underlying issues. Additionally, previous repairs on the rails had left various holes in the siding, and upon further investigation, we found the OSB completely rotted down the right side of the door.

We swiftly addressed all the rot, installed a new rubber roof correctly, and replaced the trim with durable composite materials, ensuring a maintenance-free finish. To top it off, we swapped out the old 1st generation Trex decking for today's superior Transcend product and installed new Trex rails. With these updates, their portico is now leak-proof and rot-free for years to come!

We are thrilled to share the successful transformation of this front facade project, a journey we've been proud to document through photos along the way. The old deck, which once spanned the entire front of the house, was in desperate need of repair. In collaboration with the homeowner, we decided to remove the deck and give the home a stunning facelift.

After the deck was dismantled, we partnered with Shea Landscape Design, led by Brian Shea, whose team did an exceptional job with the new retaining walls and granite stairs. They also skillfully removed the imposing beam that once spanned the garage, allowing us to craft a beautiful eyebrow roof adorned with recessed lighting—adding much-needed detail to the entrance.

To top off the transformation, we resided the entire front of the house, addressing the extensive fading and damage to the siding. The result is a fresh and inviting appearance that truly enhances the home’s curb appeal. We couldn’t be prouder of the work done on this project! The customer has already booked us for the spring to redo the remaining portion of the deck, stay tuned for more from this project.

We are excited to announce that we have officially begun our latest project: a stunning single-family home in the town of Barrington. Spanning an impressive 3,600 square feet, this beautiful colonial-style residence will feature four spacious bedrooms and three and a half thoughtfully designed bathrooms. We are honored to partner with the talented Michelle Shields Designs as our architect for this exceptional endeavor. Mackinnon and Son's Excavation has prepared the site, and Howse Foundations is set to pour the footings and foundation in the coming week. To enhance the property’s allure, we will include a two-car garage and a walkout basement, all thoughtfully integrated to complement the picturesque setting. An elevator will also provide seamless access from the basement to the second floor, ensuring convenience and accessibility for all. We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we bring our vision to life!

As we eagerly await the foundation pour for our next build in Barrington, we’re excited to share our latest transformation project in the area. Our client had a large deck spanning the entire front of their home, which had become both an eyesore and a maintenance burden. To breathe new life into the space, we collaborated with Shea Landscape Design for a stunning facade makeover.

Our first step was to replace the front door, setting the tone for a fresh look. Next, we removed the worn-out deck and, upon inspection, discovered some rot that required attention. We also identified faded siding with many damaged pieces, prompting us to reside the house's front. To add architectural interest and enhance curb appeal, we’ve introduced an elegant eyebrow roof above the garage doors.

Stay tuned as we wrap up this exciting transformation in the coming week, and get ready for the reveal of the final photos!
