This is an invention of mine called the Whamjo. It's a whammy bar for a banjo.

Got to rebuild a carb and get this `75 Eldorado running much better. A ladybug wanted to go on the test drive too. It was a great day to work on a nice classic then drive with the top down.

This is a plaster job I did. I'm very happy with how it came out. There was some damage from the house settling, as well as a few questionable repairs over the years. The problem is most people will do a very thin skim or slip coat. While this works fine for a few months or a year or two, it will never last. I take the plaster back to the lath, make sure I'm tying into solid lath and surrounding plaster, and rebuild the plaster making sure it's flat. It's amazing how uneven walls can be. It's interesting and challenging discovering what has been done in an old house, and then coming up with a solution to make it better. New posts in the basement will sure that up for years of no cracks.

Quick installation of a new vanity. The old one fell apart when it came out, so it was time to go. New one is lowered, secured, and has no leaks.

This is a belt grinder that was started by someone I never knew, but wished I had, Timmy Brown. It's name is Supafine! I used what he had started, added a bit, modified a bit, and a little help from my friends. Teo for the sexy welding action shot.

Got given an old ferriers rasp. What to do? Make a chefs knife. The only problem was it broke, so it's just a bit smaller and will be a half tang now. The extra peice has become a scraper. Now to get a handle on it...

The things you find in old houses... This is original lath from an 1860 farmhouse that the bathroom is getting redone. This was cheap pine cut thin, then hacked with a hatchet, most likely, and put on the wall. The gaps hold the horse hair plaster. Almost 160 years old, completely organic and natural, and still flat and intact. They don't make 'em like they used to. Though this will be insulated and new drywall, I do plaster repair and restoration.

This is a residential plumbing system that was cobbled together over decades. There were 4 different kinds of pipe, and almost half of all the joints were leaking. All new copper I designed to be intuitive and expandable. I prefer using all copper because nothing will happen to them other than turning green. Sweating (soldering) requires skill to have it come out clean and not leak, but it will last 100+ years. I take pride in designing and building efficient, trouble free systems.

A tenor banjo somewhere a little over 100 years old that had ha broken head. New goat skin installed, trimed, dried and, stretched. This included: completely disassembling the banjo, cleaning all the parts, head put on, reassembling everything (and all extras put back), adjusting the tremolo, new strings. Sounds ol' timey. That was a fun project. So fun, I could stsnd doing it again.

This is a door that was torn up by someone that didn't see the point of keeping things original. Because the door had holes, I needed to put a brass plate to first hide the problems as well as make it as strong as original. I was then able to install the original 1930s nickel plated brass handle and replacement lock mechanism. Even got the original key to work.
