IBERVILLE PARISH- DOTD announces that the Bayou Grosse Tete drawbridge along LA 77 is now fully operational and open to all marine and vehicular traffic with no restrictions. The bridge has been either shut down or operating on a curfew basis after a vessel collision occurred on June 6. After several months of repairs, the contractor, Coastal Contractors, LLC, performed some final equipment tests this morning, and all restrictions on the bridge are now lifted.
The department appreciates the public’s patience over the past few months while bridge parts were fabricated and repairs were being made.

Last month Coastal Contractors completed the McHugh Road Bridge in Zachary. This project is a phase of the Comite River Diversion Project for the US Army Corps of Engineers. This $9.3M Project consisted of constructing a new 320' Bridge for McHugh Road while creating a new diversion channel. The diversion channel is 1,100' long, 300' wide and 40' deep.

Coastal Contractors, Inc. has been contracted by the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad to perform vertical and horizontal jacking on the Huey P Long bridge to relieve some stress on a bridge joint on the elevated (100' above ground) railroad section of the bridge that is causing some stress also causing anchor bolts to shear at the bridge piers. Great Job to our extremely talented crews for their hard work and safely completing this 1st phase of the project.
