A great day for progress in Baton Rouge!

We were honored to take part in today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the Banks Neighborhood Road Rehabilitation Project, where Barber Brothers will serve as the contractor. This $2.9 million project will improve roads throughout the 72nd Avenue area and surrounding streets.

Thank you to the City of Baton Rouge, District 2, and community members who joined us today. We’re excited to play a role in building stronger, safer neighborhoods — one street at a time. 🛣️✨

Experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Barber Brothers Contracting Co., LLC, a road construction contractor located in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking an Experienced Heavy Highway Equipment Mechanic. This great position is with an established company and provides an opportunity for the right candidate to positively impact the company’s operations.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for our industry and have spent several years working with equipment and trucks in the heavy highway industry. It is important that the candidate have knowledge on the routine service requirements of a variety of heavy equipment.

The main duty of the Equipment Mechanic position is to service and repair the equipment and trucks used in Heavy Highway Construction Operations. The position requires consistent incorporation the company’s safety initiatives into daily tasks.

Other duties include:
Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures.
Repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline engines.
Adjusting and repairing ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
Maintaining and repairing chassis, frames and bodies.
Working with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters.
Lubricating equipment.
Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes and valves.
Repair and replace worn parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, etc.
Contribute to daily shop functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control.
Estimate of material, labor, and equipment requirements.
Exercise safe working practices including use of required PPE at all times.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications:
Five plus years of Heavy Highway Experience.
High School Diploma/GED.
Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license.
Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.

Barber Brothers Contracting has multiple positions available for experienced CDL drivers in our Fleet Division. Experienced drivers familiar with the construction industry will thrive in this position.

The primary responsibility of these positions are to drive / operate various trucks including tri axle Dump, concrete, cement transport, fuel trucks and other construction related trucks. Must have CDL with proper endorsements.


Requirements:
Professional Driving Experience.
2+ Years Construction Experience.
Experience performing equipment / truck maintenance.

The ideal Heavy Equipment Operator candidate will have a passion for our industry and have significant experience working on a road construction crew. The candidate will have intermediate knowledge of Heavy Equipment and standard procedures involved in Highway and Road Construction.

The main duty of the Heavy Equipment Operator is to safely run and maintain equipment such as: Pavers, Stabilizers, Graders, Backhoes, Excavators, and Dozers. The position is part of a construction crew that is responsible for various stages of large construction projects. The position requires consistent incorporation the company’s safety initiatives into daily tasks.

Other duties include:
Perform minor servicing and maintenance and refer major problems to the supervisor.
Exercise safe working practices including use of required PPE at all times.
Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Other duties as assigned.
