Makaira Pools We believe that all pools should be created to blend aesthetically and creatively with its natural surroundings for the best possible backyard environment.

We don't sell pools - we create a landscape experience that is inclusive of a full treatment for your aquatic retreat. We conceptualize and create our pools of any size or shape. Our creative services can show you what your pool will look like before a spec of dirt is

Here’s some helpful things to do to protect your pool from freezing temps

1. Keep the Pool Running
❄️ Run the pool pump continuously during freezing temperatures to keep water moving and prevent freezing.
❄️ If your system has a freeze protection setting, ensure it is activated.

2. Protect Pool Equipment
❄️Cover the pump, filter, and heater with insulated blankets or tarps, but avoid blocking air vents.
❄️Disconnect and drain equipment if it won’t be running during the freeze.

3. Adjust Pool Levels
❄️Maintain proper water levels to ensure the skimmers function correctly. Avoid overfilling the pool.

4. Clear the Skimmers and Drains
❄️Remove any debris from skimmers and drains to ensure smooth water flow.
❄️Consider using a skimmer plug or a pool pillow to protect the skimmer from freezing damage.

5. Use a Freeze Protection Product
❄️Add a pool-safe antifreeze to plumbing lines (if not running the pump)
❄️ Install foam pipe insulation on exposed plumbing lines.

6. Secure Your Pool Cover
❄️Ensure your pool cover is tightly secured to keep out debris and reduce heat loss.

7. Monitor Water Chemistry
❄️Balance your water’s pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness to prevent damage from freezing water.
❄️Add algaecide to help maintain water quality during the freeze.

8. Remove Fragile Accessories
❄️Take out items like pool toys, cleaners, or ladders that could be damaged by freezing temperatures.

9. Stay Prepared for Power Outages
❄️Keep a plan ready in case of a power outage. You may need to drain the pump and filter system to prevent freeze damage.
