Before the heavy growth of late spring sets in, take a 30-minute walk through a specific section of your property. Look specifically for "The Three D's": Dead, Dying, or Diseased trees.

🌲 Why it matters: Removing these trees (sanitation cutting) prevents the spread of pests and pathogens to your healthy timber and reduces fuel loads for potential wildfires.

As a forest landowner, one of the most effective ways to increase the biodiversity on your property is by focusing on "Soft Edges." In forestry, an "edge" is where two different habitats meet—for example, where a dense timber stand meets an open field or a road. Often, these edges are "hard," meaning there is a sudden drop-off from tall trees to short grass.

The Tip: By "softening" these edges—thinning the trees at the perimeter or allowing native shrubs and tall grasses to grow in a transition zone—you create a "feathered" effect. This provides:

✅ Better Cover: Protection for nesting birds and fawns from predators.
✅ Diverse Food Sources: Increased sunlight allows berry-producing shrubs and wildflowers to thrive.
✅ Wildlife Travel Corridors: Deer and other wildlife are more likely to move through areas where they feel concealed.

Looking to upgrade sawmill to LT40-45 or TK 2200+ similar hydraulic mill. Maybe someone looking to trade for a simpler/smaller manual mill with some mods if no need for such a larger mill.

Usually the tree is still standing and not on a building when it comes to removal. No major damage to the roof and client happy to have it removed.

Working in International Falls today! Well actually Rainer! Helped this HOA clean up a mess from a contractor that decided to bury the structure of an old house instead of hauling away! Wasn’t much but it looks way better and they can start planting native plants and make the property and surrounding cabins beautiful again without this eyesore!

Doing some trailer rehab for the flatbed while the weather is nice. More welding work planned but wanted to coat the boards as I’m not ready yet to replace with oak yet.
