I will promise to give you free stuff even if economic advisors tell my advisors that it will backfire horrifically. Once elected I will cancel the program (Hint: how are those democratic promises of reparations going in CA?)

Third screen into the article there is this, "The budget proposal, which was released in May 2024, states that next year California will spend nearly $200 million less on public safety, including law enforcement and prisons than it did in 2024."
To all of the citizens across the US, please don't get sucked in by his charismatic words. He simply hates law abiding residents of this state and he will carry that hatred with him if he is ever voted or appointed to any nationwide position.

At first read of the headline and primary item mentioned it seems like a fair and reasonable plan. Then dig a little deeper and see that there are a bunch of other items that are just bonkers. Can the legislators please fix the immigration laws to be fair and equitable?

President Biden is expected to announce a new program Tuesday that would provide a path to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of immigrants married to U.S. citizens.

If only there were a way to anticipate the unintended consequences of this law.
For anyone out there who is hard hit by inflation, this is part of how you get inflation. We haven't even seen how good or bad the domino effect will be. Wages will go up across the board as will the cost of the product of those wages. $20/hour fast food wages have already caused an increase in the cost of a happy meal. heck even the $5 biggie bag is now $6 or $7.
Starting electricians' wages have increased by 30% in our company. Wages at the top have also risen. I'm sure you have figured out by now that I, as the owner, am not covering that cost increase. EVERY single client is bearing that cost. The base service call was $149 is now $199. Hourly rates have also risen proportionally. Want an EV charger installed? It was $350 to $700 on average. It is now $550 & up.

California is set to raise its minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour starting in April.

OK. legit question. If anyone can give me a reasonable explanation I'd appreciate it.
I get the need for asylum in some cases. I get the simple desire to live a better life in nearly all cases.
If it is illegal to hire someone who is undocumented how is it encouraging them to lead a better life if they can't legally work?

We recently had a client who hired a landscape company to do $35k worth of work. The "contractor" received cash & boldly told the client that he had no intention of paying taxes on the money. he was returning to his home to live for 6 months then he would return and do it again. This means he was uninsured for general liability, workers comp, state disability & made no contribution to F**A/SS.

This means none of his 6 employees contributed to state or federal income taxes or F**A SDI.

If you want open borders, fix the system so everyone can work legally.
