From exterior-only access — to fully connected living.

This project is one of those builds that completely changes how a home works. Previously, the 2nd-floor studio apartment / mother-in-law suite could only be accessed from an exterior staircase. No interior connection existed.

Now we’re creating a completely custom staircase system to integrate both levels into one functional space, including:

• Custom-built staircase
• Structural modifications to last
• New walls and open-concept layout
• Raised ceiling stairway for proper head clearance
• Flooring transitions and new finishes
• Drywall, trim, and finishing work with added electrical outlets and improved lighting
• Full redesign of how this home flows

This isn’t another TikTok DIY project. This is real custom construction — professionally designed, properly built, and tailored specifically to this home.

Every wall, ceiling transition, and structural detail is being carefully coordinated so the final result feels like it was always meant to be there.

There’s something special about taking a standard painted brick fireplace and turning it into a true focal point.

Today we started a custom lime wash application on this fireplace surround — all done by hand, layer by layer. This isn’t just paint… it’s an artistic process that brings depth, movement, and a natural aged character that you simply can’t replicate with a roller.

To tie everything into the newly renovated space, we first applied a custom blue-gray base to match the overall tone and color palette. From there, we began building out multiple lime wash sample sections directly on the brick — giving the client real, in-place options to choose from before we move forward with the final finish.

Each sample is intentionally worked to create variation in tone and texture, allowing the client to see how light, depth, and movement will play across the surface. No two finishes will ever come out the same — and that’s exactly the point.

We’re big on the details — from surface prep, to application technique, to final blending — because that’s what separates a basic finish from something that feels custom and elevated.

This is just the beginning — once the final selection is made, we’ll bring the entire fireplace together into one cohesive, finished look.
