❄️Make sure your HVAC is ready for this storm❄️

🧊If you have a heat pump and we start to have ice accumulate, turn it to emergency heat if you cant get the ice off the blades or snow off the unit Running your heat pump with ice on fan blades can damage your system. You can also get the ice off the blades and clear the area around the unit and it will run as it should.
🔥 Be sure if you have gas appliances or generators running that you have a working carbon monoxide detector!!
🧊Replace your batteries in your alarms and detectors in your house
🔥 Replace your HVAC filter
🧊Seal all drafts around doors and windows so cold air can’t come into your home
🔥 If possible, keep your exhaust and drain lines clear of snow and ice on the outside of your home. Just don’t be unsafe with it
🧊Leave your water dripping and cabinet doors open if you need to
🔥 Try to keep your thermostat at a consistent temperature. Do not be shocked if your house won’t stay 80 degrees during all of this

If anyone has any questions with your HVAC during this weather, don’t be afraid to reach out. If you have water in your system, or in your crawlspace/duct work, we would advise you to turn it off. Don’t be without heat in this extreme weather coming up! We’ll be out working to make sure you stay warm. Here’s a few things to check off before this weather comes:

-Make sure your air filter is new or clean

-Keep furnace exhaust vents free of ice or any blockage

-Make sure you have plenty of propane if you have LP heat

-Your heat pump will more than likely struggle during this weather. Use heat strips or “emergency heat” to help maintain a warm temperature in your home

-Be sure your outdoor unit is free of ice before turning your heat pump back on to prevent damage.

-Close your crawlspace vents

❄️❄️We’ve got cold weather coming up!❄️❄️

❄️But don’t worry! We’ve got you covered!❄️

-Be sure to check your emergency heat or back up heat if you have a secondary heat source

-Most heat pump systems are not designed to handle extreme cold weather. It is recommended to turn your thermostat to “Emergency Heat” and use heat strips to prevent damage from freezing rain. Before you turn it back on, check to make sure there is no ice build up on blades.

-If you have a gas furnace, make sure your exhaust and fresh air intake are open

-Make sure your crawl space vents are closed

-And ALWAYS check your air filter!
