We want to take a moment to look out for our community.

We’ve recently heard about an increase in scams locally, including garage door work. Because these situations can look legitimate, we wanted to share a few tips to help homeowners stay protected:

• Be cautious with general Google searches "near me"—some questionable companies pay to appear first. Watch for unfamiliar area codes and double‑check websites and social media for consistency.
• Confirm the business has a name and a real, local address that appears on Google Maps.
• Read reviews from multiple sources and ask friends or neighbors for referrals.
• Ask for pricing upfront and consider multiple estimates to confirm fair and consistent pricing. Quotes that are significantly higher than others may be a red flag.

Taking a few extra minutes to research can make a big difference. If you run into an issue that you feel is questionable, such as a company serving you and then being unreachable afterwards, consider reporting it to the BBB. Serving our community means more to us than garage doors—we’re sharing this simply to help our neighbors stay informed and avoid frustrating situations.
