PSA:

1) Virginia law requires a mis utility ticket to be placed by the contractor performing work.

2) The ticket has 3 working days to clear.

3) Only public utilities will be marked-this does not include private lines including well or drain fields.

4) Hand digging or vacuum system is required within 24 inches of the marked lines to expose the line.

5) If after the ticket clears in 3 days, you are aware of an unmarked line you are to place a 3 hour ticket. Which gives the locator an additional 3 hours to mark.

We have had 2 jobs today with known lines that were unmarked by locators at different locations, both with clear tickets to proceed with the scheduled work. Joe's Trenching will always go the extra mile to ensure safety of the employees and the property we are at!
