The shutters are back up on the three front sides to finish those. We’re attaching new awning brackets to the missing shutter on the end of the house. We love the fresh, clean cottage look of the home with everything primed and painted. We will get the before, during and after pictures together eventually. Now we’re working on the back side trim and siding along with the sunroom windows. The final step will be the fence around the roadside perimeter of the property.

We took advantage of having extra help today to take the upper gutters down and paint the fascia board behind them. The gutters were put back up and several new clips were installed to hold them in place. With that done, next week we can get the shutter put back on the front side of the house.

We’re back at the exterior job getting the prep work started on the back of the house. A few of the windows have need a lot of scraping and sanding before we could prime and and get the glazing in. The metal storm window frames are sanded and primed and then we can start working on the siding and trim.

Mission accomplished! Other than a few areas to touch up, the work on the historic church is complete. We put in another long day to finish the entry door and frame so that the church can be used tomorrow morning. We still have some work to do on the doors and frames on the lower building tomorrow but it’s not much. We will get a collection of before and after pictures together of the windows. It’s a pretty big difference with the light coming through the stained glass inside the church.

We’re glad the weather forecast was wrong for today. We were able to get a lot done on the church job which is on a time schedule for the window coverings . The doors on the lower building have a second coat on them. The glazing on the windows in the Historic church was dry so we were able to get it primed with an oil based primer. They will be ready for the finish coat on Monday.

We’ve made a lot of progress at the church job. Especially on the prep work of the stained glass window frames. All of the cracked glazing has been removed and replaced. The frames have been sanded, caulked and primed. A few of them have the first finish coat on them. We’re really hoping that the weather stays good the rest of the week so we can keep on rolling along.

We’re getting a head start on the repair and prep work on the frames around the Historic stained glass windows at the church job. Many of them will need the old glazing removed and new glazing put in which will take 5-6 days to dry before it can be painted. During that time the rest of the frame can be painted. Once we’re finished with everything , the windows will be getting sealed with a clear covering to protect them. That work is being done through the National Register of Historic Society.

There’s some small areas left along with hanging the shutters but three sides of the exterior job are finished. It’s been a lot of prep work on the shutters, windows and trim along with the prep work on the windows to re-glaze them. The next step was getting it primed before applying two coats of finish paint. We will be going back and forth between this job and the church job going forward with them being fairly close together.

The windows and doors at the church are one of our upcoming jobs. The large stained glass windows are from when the church was built in the early 1700s. They will be getting sealed up and protected with a clear covering once our work is complete to preserve them. The wooden frames around all of the windows on the historic church will be getting painted and repaired where needed. The twenty two exterior doors on the main building along with the entry door and frame of the historic church will also be getting painted once the other work is finished.
