White to black. Basic to extraordinary. This master bathroom went through a transformation that changes how the whole home feels.

Comment "OPULENT" if a bathroom this bold is already living in your head. πŸ‘‡

The before gives you a clear picture of where this started. White tile everywhere. Oak vanity cabinets that had seen better days. Standard globe lighting above a basic flat mirror. A glass shower enclosure in the corner. Functional. Uninspiring. A bathroom that blended into the background of the home instead of becoming part of it.

The after is in a completely different world.

Every surface shifted to deep charcoal marble-look tile with white veining that runs floor to ceiling across the walls and across the floor. The matte black freestanding soaking tub is the centrepiece of the whole space, sitting in front of a window with warm amber LED strip lighting running along the ceiling perimeter and behind a recessed niche that glows behind it. The entire tub zone feels like a private spa you don't have to leave the house to access.

The vanity is its own moment. Deep walnut flat panel cabinetry floating above an underlit base. A dramatic black and gold veined marble countertop with a matte black undermount sink. A square matte black faucet. And a large backlit LED mirror that lights the whole wall with a warm glow that makes the space feel cinematic at any time of day.

The separate toilet enclosure has its own dark herringbone tile floor and soft grey walls. A room within a bathroom that feels considered and private.

This is not a bathroom that got refreshed. This is a bathroom that got rebuilt around a vision.

A deck that works with your home instead of against it changes how the whole property feels from the outside. Swipe through to see what we mean.

Comment "BACKYARD" if your deck has been waiting too long for this kind of attention. πŸ‘‡

This project was a full deck remodel on a two-storey home and every detail was thought through to make the whole exterior work together.

The upper deck got dark composite decking laid across the full surface with matching dark railing and spindles. Open views of the neighbourhood, space to sit comfortably and a covered overhang keeping the weather off. The staircase running down the side of the home was rebuilt with matching composite treads and dark railing all the way to the ground so nothing feels disconnected between levels.

Down at the base of the stairs a cedar pergola structure was built out to create a covered lower patio area on the lawn. That lower level gives the backyard purpose it didn't have before. Somewhere to sit in the shade, somewhere for the kids to play under, somewhere that makes the whole outdoor space feel layered and intentional rather than just a patch of grass behind a deck.

The grey exterior siding and the deep dark tones of the composite deck and railing tie together in a way that gives this home real street presence from the back.

This is what a deck remodel looks like when the whole picture is considered.

Most contractors put tile down and call it done. Bar puts tile down and then explains exactly why every decision was made. That's the difference.

Comment "SMART" if this is the kind of knowledge you wish your contractor shared with you. πŸ‘‡

We're on Part 4 of the Bainbridge Island partial bathroom remodel and this one is all about what professional tile work actually looks like when it's done properly.

Bar walks through it himself on camera. He starts with the planning stage because that's where a good tile job actually begins. Before anything goes on the wall or the floor you have to plan the layout. You're looking for no awkward cuts in visible spots, no odd pieces that interrupt the pattern, no shortcuts that show up after the fact.

Then straight lines throughout. Clean cuts in every corner with no sharp edges left behind. A slight slope built into the floor exactly where drainage needs it. And the caulking matched specifically to the tile colour so the finish looks intentional from every angle. Black caulk against the black Schluter trim because details like that are what separate a professional job from one that just looks like it.

Bar says it plainly at the end. This is how a good professional tile job looks like.

He's right.

If you have been following this series from Part 1 you can already see how this bathroom is coming together. If you are just finding us now, go back and catch up from the beginning. Part 5 is on the way. Follow the page so you don't miss it.

You walked into your bathroom this morning. Be honest. How did it make you feel?

Comment "WATERPROOF" if any of these are sitting in your home right now. πŸ‘‡

Most homeowners know something is wrong. They just keep putting it off until the problem gets loud enough to ignore. Here is what those quiet problems are actually doing to your home.

πŸͺŸ That cracked tile you keep stepping over β€” every single shower, water is getting behind that wall. You cannot see it yet but mold is already growing back there and by the time it shows up on the surface the repair is going to cost three times more than fixing the tile ever would have.

🚿 That slow drain nobody wants to deal with β€” it is not just an inconvenience. It is aging plumbing telling you something. Ignored long enough it becomes a much bigger conversation.

πŸ—„οΈ No storage anywhere β€” products covering every surface, a bathroom that feels more like a battle every morning than a space that actually works for you. That is not just frustrating, that is a design problem that has a real solution.

πŸ’‘ Lighting that makes everyone look tired and fixtures already outdated ten years ago β€” these pull your home value down quietly and consistently every month they stay unchanged.

😷 That smell that comes back no matter how many candles you burn β€” that is a ventilation problem. Moisture building up somewhere you cannot reach and mold does not care about your schedule.

How many of these are in your bathroom right now? Drop the number in the comments.

Here is the truth. A bathroom remodel in Washington State is not just about looking better in the morning. It stops the hidden damage before it compounds. It protects your home value. It changes your daily routine in a way that is hard to put into words until you experience it. Homeowners who remodel see up to 70% return on investment. Those who wait just see bigger bills.

At Volcano Builders we handle full bathroom remodels across Seattle, Bellevue and all of Washington State. On time. On budget. Built around you.

It started with a truck bed full of cedar lumber in a parking lot. It ended with two outdoor living spaces that make you want to stay outside all evening.

Comment "BACKYARD" if your deck has been waiting too long for this kind of attention. πŸ‘‡

This is the full story of this L-shape deck remodel and it's worth telling properly.

The before showed a deck that had been holding on for too long. Boards worn down and pulling apart. Structural framing exposed underneath that was soft in places it shouldn't be. The kind of deck that looks okay from a distance but tells the truth when you get close.

We didn't patch it. We cleared the whole surface, assessed the frame underneath and rebuilt what needed to be rebuilt before anything new went on top. That's the part nobody photographs but it's the part that makes the finished deck last fifteen years instead of five.

Then the cedar went down. Full L-shape layout following the line of the house. Board by board, run by run, the whole surface coming together piece by piece while the frame underneath held everything solid. Cable railing fitted between the cedar posts on both runs so the view into the surrounding trees stayed completely open.

The result is two separate but connected outdoor spaces. The larger side has room for a full seating arrangement, warm natural timber underfoot, lantern lighting along the wall and tall trees wrapping around the whole deck on two sides. The smaller corner of the L is more tucked in. Modern outdoor chairs around a low table, potted plants along the railing, the kind of outdoor corner that gets used every single day.

This is what an outdoor space feels like when the work behind it was done properly from the very first board.

Most people never see this part. The part where someone puts a mask on, steps outside into the open air and spends hours cutting and polishing a stone countertop so the fit is exactly right.

Comment "OBSESSED" if you think the work deserves just as much credit as the result. πŸ‘‡

This reel shows what happens before the wow.

Demo day first. Everything out. Walls open. Ceiling pulled. The kitchen looking its worst before it ever starts looking its best. The crew walks into that and gets straight to work.

Then the countertop. Cut outside on a workbench. Dust in the air. Head down. Every edge polished by hand until it sits perfectly. That level of care is not something you can fake and it's not something you rush.

Cabinet runs fitted level throughout. Quartz countertop dropped into place. Glass mosaic backsplash set row by row. Undermount sink sealed in clean. Hardwood floor laid across the whole kitchen pulling everything together.

That is the kitchen you see at the end of this reel. White shaker cabinets, marble-look quartz, glass backsplash and warm wood floors. It looks effortless because the effort happened before anyone was watching.

That's who we are.

Someone typed "how to design a minimalist bathroom" into their search bar. Here's the answer they were actually looking for.

Comment "SERENE" if this is the kind of calm your bathroom is missing right now. πŸ‘‡

Swipe through every image because the details in this one are worth seeing up close.

Minimalist design in a bathroom is not about doing less. It's about being deliberate with everything you choose. Every material, every fixture, every finish chosen because it belongs there and for no other reason.

The vanity sets that tone perfectly. Soft grey shaker-style cabinetry with barn-door sliding panels and matte black hardware giving it that subtle farmhouse edge without leaning too far into it. Marble-look quartz countertop, two undermount sinks, brushed nickel faucets with clean square profiles. A backlit LED smart mirror stretching wide above the vanity casting warm even light across the whole space and making the room feel luxurious even at six in the morning.

The shower is where this bathroom really holds your attention. Travertine-look large format tile in warm cream and grey tones covers every wall. The natural variation in the veining means no two panels look identical and the whole shower feels like it was designed for a boutique hotel. A frameless sliding glass door keeps it visually open. The handheld and rain head setup means you get the shower experience you want, not just the one that came with the house.

And then you see the niche. An intricate octagon and square mosaic tile pattern set right into the shower wall. It's small but it's the detail that tells you someone really cared about this project.

Grey large format floor tile throughout keeps everything grounded and cohesive.

This is the bathroom that makes people stop scrolling. And we built it.

Most master bathrooms look fine. This one makes you stop in the doorway for a second before you walk in.

Comment "LUXURIOUS" if a bathroom like this is already on your wishlist. πŸ‘‡

Here's what we built.

The vanity is the first thing that hits you. It runs almost the entire wall, white shaker cabinetry with brushed gold hardware, a full black granite countertop that feels rich and grounded at the same time. Two undermount sinks. Two sets of brushed nickel faucets. And then the mirrors. Two backlit oval LED mirrors sitting above each sink, glowing with that warm light that makes you feel like you're getting ready somewhere worth getting ready. There's a small storage cabinet in the corner keeping towels tucked away neatly without cluttering the space.

Then there's the shower.

White calacatta marble tile on every wall. Large format, clean, bright. And right down the center a vertical strip of black pebble mosaic tile that runs floor to ceiling like someone drew a line through the room with intention. The shower floor is full black pebble mosaic too. Rain head. Recessed niche. Every fixture in brushed nickel tying back to the vanity. The glass enclosure keeps it all visible from anywhere in the bathroom.

Wide plank wood-look vinyl flooring through the whole space making it warm underfoot and easy to maintain.

This is what a master bathroom remodel looks like when every decision gets made on purpose.

The front entrance of your home sets the tone before anyone even steps inside. This one needed a reset and the result speaks for itself.

Comment "CURB APPEAL" if your front steps have been quietly embarrassing you for too long. πŸ‘‡

Worn natural stone steps that had been through too many wet Pacific Northwest winters. Uneven surfaces, cracked edges and a front entrance that made the whole home look older than it was. That was the before.

We came in, cleared the old surface and laid large format dark grey porcelain pavers across every step level and clean. Crisp white railings on both sides to frame the new entrance properly. The whole front of the home reads completely differently now. Polished. Considered. The kind of entrance that makes people stop and notice before they even get to the door.

And beyond the look there is a real practical difference. Level, properly laid steps are safer. They hold up through the seasons without cracking or shifting. And they protect the value of the home instead of quietly pulling it down.

If your front entrance has been on the list for a while, this is the conversation to start.
