Completed at the end of 2025 and open since January, the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center (owned and operated by Volunteers of America Western Washington) is already making a meaningful impact in the community.

The 40,000-square-foot hub brings together essential services, programs, and gathering spaces—supporting over 20,000 community members each year across Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline, and beyond. From health clinics and early education to youth programs, workforce resources, and culturally-specific support, the center fosters connection, opportunity, and growth...all under one roof! Built with a sustainable hybrid of steel and mass timber, the LNC reflects a long-term investment in community well-being.

Historic buildings have important stories to tell...our job as a GC is helping ensure they can keep telling them safely for years to come. This National Preservation Month, we’re celebrating the work of preserving historic spaces while improving resilience, performance, and seismic safety for future generations.

This seems like a fitting time to revisit a series of insights from GLY's Andrew Ellis: From Vulnerable to Viable: Retrofitting Seattle's URMs:
Part 1: Ensuring Safety + Preserving Heritage

Part 3: Getting Started, Brick by Brick - Coming Soon!

The images shown are a handful of projects that reflect this work in action. We’re grateful for the clients and partners who help bring this work to life, advancing long-term stewardship, safety, and sustainability.

Big milestone at the Olympic Peninsula YMCA Port Angeles Early Learning Center! GLY recently wrapped up site development and shell + core for this new 8,000-square-foot childcare facility—helping bring a long-awaited community resource closer to opening for families in the area.

The project transforms a former residential site into a purpose-built early learning environment for up to 76 children, from newborns through age five. Along the way, the team relocated an existing vacant home, diverted ~40 tons of demolition debris from landfill, and delivered major site improvements including utilities, paving, sidewalks, landscaping, and a large underground stormwater detention system. Designed as a hybrid steel and wood structure with composite and wood siding, GLY self-performed concrete and wood framing scopes—supporting quality, schedule, and coordination from the ground up.

Proud to support YMCA and this important investment in early childhood education and the Port Angeles community.

Reducing carbon isn’t just a future goal—it’s a responsibility we carry today. We’re excited to share GLY’s Carbon Reduction Master Plan, which outlines the measurable steps we’re taking to reduce waste, lower carbon, and build more responsibly. Why? Because the future of our industry depends on what we do NOW. This is more than a plan. It’s accountability in action. A huge thank you to Sustainability Manager Laura Soma and Project Engineer Logan Pulsifer for leading this effort and helping turn ambition into measurable impact!

We’re halfway through Construction Safety Week, and it’s the perfect moment to pause and recognize some of the people who make safety real on our jobsites. With this year’s theme “All In Together” and a focus on Recognize, Respond, and Respect, we’re proud to highlight a few individuals who bring that mindset to life every day across our projects!

After 41 years at GLY, we’re celebrating the retirement of Reed McNulty. Since 1984, Reed has set the standard for integrity, craftsmanship, and doing the work the right way. His GLY legacy lives not just in the projects he helped deliver, but in the countless people he’s mentored and inspired along the way.

Thank you, Reed, for your leadership, your example, and your lasting impact on GLY. Wishing you a retirement filled with family, the outdoors, and well‑earned adventure. 🎉

Last weekend, GLY volunteers were back at YMCA Camp Colman lending a hand on a few site improvements around the camp. The crew built two sets of stairs connecting the main lodge to the new overnight cabins currently underway, plus cleared trails and tackled general landscaping to help keep things moving around the site. We’ve been part of YMCA Camp Colman work parties for more than two decades, and it’s always one of those events people are glad to come back to...fun work, fun crew, and a fun place to spend a day outside. Thanks to this year’s volunteers for bringing the energy and making it happen!
