🚨 A Quick Word of Advice on Using AI for Color Selection 🚨
We’ve been seeing a growing trend where homeowners rely on AI-generated images to choose paint colors instead of testing real samples on their home—and we want to share a recent experience as a caution.
On one of our latest projects, everything started off great. The customer selected their colors using AI-generated previews and felt confident moving forward. However, once the paint started going on the actual house, the color looked completely different in real-world lighting and surroundings.
Unfortunately, the client was unhappy with the result, and we had to change colors midway through the project. This led to:
👉 Project delays
👉 Additional labor
👉 Extra material costs
It’s also important to note that our contract was based on the customer providing their finalized color selection—so it was assumed proper sampling had already been done prior to starting.
🎯 Lesson learned:
AI can be a helpful tool for inspiration, but it should NOT replace testing real paint samples on your home. Lighting, textures, and environment all impact how a color truly looks—and those details simply can’t be fully captured on a screen.
✅ Always test multiple samples on your home in different lighting conditions before making your final decision.
A little extra time upfront can save a lot of frustration (and cost) later!
