Public Statement from Mt. Baker Roofing
Date: October 22, 2025
In recent weeks, false claims have circulated online suggesting that Mt. Baker Roofing was involved in an incident in Yakima, Washington, in which a contractor allegedly called immigration authorities on workers to avoid paying them.
Unfortunately, misinformation on social media has combined unrelated events (an April 2025 ICE raid of our business) and, in some cases, included AI-generated (deepfake) video content falsely depicting our company. These claims, videos, and posts are fabricated and defamatory.
We want to be absolutely clear: Mt. Baker Roofing has no connection to that incident.
• The Yakima Incident: Our company does not, and has never, operated in Yakima. We work exclusively in Whatcom, Skagit, and Snohomish counties. We have never engaged in or condoned the actions described in those posts about the Yakima Incident. In fact, quite the opposite, we have condemned such behavior as cruel and immoral. We have no knowledge of who this contractor might be, and can find no credible news stories about the event besides what has circulated on social media.
• ICE: Mt Baker Roofing was subject to an ICE enforcement action in April 2025. Our offices were raided by armed officers who detained 37 of our staff. We are not happy about it, and we issued a public statement at that time addressing the situation in full (see below). Mt Baker Roofing has never reported anyone to ICE, and we have exclusively done what is legally required of us (complying with subpoenas and search warrants).
Mt. Baker Roofing has been a part of the Pacific Northwest community for over 40 years. We are a local, family-owned business built on the values of honesty, hard work, and respect for every person. We stand firmly with the immigrant community and with all people who contribute their talent and effort to our industry and region. We are currently:
• Working with legal counsel and federal authorities to address these false claims,
• Collaborating with social media platforms to remove fake or manipulated content, and
• Continuing to serve our customers and employees with transparency and professionalism.
We encourage anyone seeking accurate information to rely only on our official channels:

We ask our community to be mindful of misinformation online and to verify sources before sharing.
Thank you to our customers, partners, and neighbors for your continued trust and support.

Bellingham, WA — April 2, 2025 — Earlier today, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted an enforcement action at Mt Baker Roofing. We want to take this opportunity to address the situation and reaffirm our commitment to our employees, customers, and community.
At this time, we are working diligently to gather all relevant information regarding the circumstances of the enforcement action. We are fully cooperating with the authorities while also ensuring that our employees are treated fairly and respectfully under the law. Our top priority remains the well-being of our team members and the continued service to our customers.
Mt Baker Roofing has always been committed to upholding ethical business practices and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations. We believe in the dignity and rights of all individuals and will provide support to our employees and their families during this challenging time.
Whatcom County resident, Navy SEAL veteran, and owner of Mt Baker Roofing, commented:
“It is with a heavy heart that we navigate this moment. Many of those impacted have worked for us, as tax-paying employees, for years, if not decades. These hardworking individuals were actively supporting our community by helping to build the homes and install the roofs that protect us all from the elements. Many of these individuals are active members of local churches, schools, and communities. Looking beyond the personal impact, we cannot ignore the larger implications of today’s events. Policies like the enforcement action carried out today directly harm small businesses like ours, making it increasingly difficult to operate and further inflating the prices paid by consumers.”
