A Private Athletic Barn

Pulling back to show how it all connects.

The sports complex sits just beyond the main house, its weathered barn form rising behind the pergola and pool, the same material language as the house itself, carried into a new structure at a different scale. Close enough to feel like part of the everyday flow of the property, distinct enough to read as its own building. New pool, new plantings, new sightlines. This rear-yard master plan touched every inch of the lot, not just the court.

Week 1 of construction underway on this Chestnut Hill major renovation and addition.

Excavation for the new foundations are in progress, and we’ve stripped this addition back to studs to reset the framing plan. Nothing like seeing 60+ years of additions laid bare to understand how a house actually goes together.
Kicked off weekly OAC meetings with our contractor and clients to keep everyone aligned as we move through the next phase.

New Project Reveal: A Private Athletic Barn

What began as a simple request creat a dedicated place to play without turning the backyard into a sports complex became an opportunity to create something both functional and timeless.

Inspired by traditional New England agricultural architecture, this private athletic barn features weathered vertical siding, a simple yet striking gabled roof, and carefully placed high windows that preserve privacy while maintaining a quiet presence from the street.

Step through the covered entry, and the building opens into a full-height indoor court designed for year-round recreation. Supporting spaces include a locker room with a private bath, shower, and sauna, along with a comfortable lounge where a full wall of glass overlooks the court.

The project extends beyond the barn. The entire rear property was reimagined with a new pool, hot tub, and thoughtfully connected outdoor living spaces, creating a seamless destination for recreation, relaxation, and entertaining.

Full gut renovation. South Boston. Former school building.

Part 1- Gut the kitchen. Start from scratch. And while you’re at it; build in a place to work.

The result is a custom kitchen designed around two lives: the one that cooks and the one that logs on. White shaker cabinetry, brass hardware, farmhouse sink, pro range, glass-front uppers with interior lighting. All of it is custom!

A height-adjustable mahogany work surface integrated directly into the millwork. Sits flush when it’s a kitchen. Raises when it’s an office.

Excited to share that our project just landed in the Cape & Islands Design Guide.

This one was a fun problem to solve. A summer house for an extended family, sitting right next to an 1886 shingled compound. The brief was modern enough to feel current, but not so modern it ignored 150 years of context next door.

Foundation’s in on a new ADU.
First of a few updates we’ll share as this one comes together.

This one’s designed for multigenerational family.
Single level with a loft space for the grandkids, with its own entry, built so aging parents can stay close without giving up independence.

More to come as framing goes up.

Swim. Sweat. Recover

This standalone fitness clubhouse was designed to do one job; connect seamlessly to an existing pool enclosure and carry that wellness experience straight into a new gym, hot sauna, juice bar, and locker rooms all under one roof, built fresh for this six-acre property in the suburbs.

The move was sequence, not size. Swimmers exit the pool enclosure directly into the clubhouse, no walk across the lawn required, just a clean transition from water to weights to recovery.
One continuous wellness loop.
