Slowly but surely, we’re making it happen. 🙏

I’m incredibly thankful for every customer who has trusted me and our crews with their homes and their projects.

We don’t make promises—we assess the damage, give you an honest opinion, and set realistic expectations about what we believe we can get approved.

I’ve been fortunate to come across situations where claims were initially denied, but after taking the time to properly document and present the damage, we were able to get those claims reopened and, in some cases, get an entire roof replacement fully approved.

At the end of the day, honesty, hard work, and simply being a good human being will take you a long way.

I’m truly grateful to everyone who has helped make this dream of owning and running my own business a reality. A Roof Replacement That Uncovered a Bigger Problem

This house was built in the 1920s, and underneath the newer shingles—installed roughly 25 years ago—we discovered cedar shakes throughout the entire roof.

What a time to be alive! 😂 This roof replacement turned into a major setback, but we knew the cedar shakes were there before we started, and we were committed to doing the job the right way. We still completed the roof replacement in one day.

Some sections had not one, but two layers of shingles, followed by the original cedar shakes underneath. The only proper solution was to remove all of the old roofing layers, re-deck the roof, install a new asphalt shingle system, and eliminate the existing roof leaks.

But the story didn’t end there.

We received a call from the tenants who believed the brand-new roof was leaking. We went back the very next day after it rained. We were confident the roof installation was not the source of the leak because everything was completed to our standards, including ice and water protection where the roof meets the walls and proper metal flashing at all roof-to-wall transitions.

So, we started testing.

We ran a water hose on the area where the leak was appearing for about 20 minutes—and not a single drop of water came through.

Hmm… 🤔

We then started spraying the window located directly above the area where the leak had appeared during the rain.

Boom. There it was.

The water was coming through the window, not the new roof.

As a temporary solution, we covered and sealed the window to stop the water intrusion and buy the homeowners some time to plan and save for the next project.

The customer and tenants were happy that we were able to identify the actual source of the leak instead of simply blaming the new roof.

At S*M Contracting Inc, we don’t make excuses, ignore calls, or walk away when a problem comes up. If our customers need us, we’ll get back out there—even the same day when necessary—and we’ll investigate until we find the problem.
