This Bethesda, MD chimney hadn’t been inspected in a while. When we finally got up on the roof, we found four connected problems: deteriorated mortar joints, a cracked crown, loose flashing, and peeling paint exposing bare brick. Left alone, any one of these lets water into the home.

The fix: full tuckpointing with mortar matched to the home's 1940s brick, a new concrete crown with proper expansion joints, resealed flashing, and a fresh coat of paint.
