I need 1,100 pieces of this Ludowici tapered barrel tile — and I need them fast.

From the photos you can see the Ludowici-Celadon Chicago stamp on the underside — this is early production material. The tile is fire flashed, approximately 18" long with a tapered barrel profile. The butt end measures approximately 6" wide.

If you have a roof coming off, a salvage in progress, or material sitting in a yard — I want to hear from you today. I'm not looking for a close match. I need this specific tile.

We have an extraordinary amount of Ludowici Closed Shingle tile in stock — and we need to move it.

Nearly 475 squares of reclaimed Historic Closed Shingle tile available right now across four colorways, plus thousands of matching trim tiles. This isn't a partial lot. These are complete roofing systems — available immediately.

Here's what we have:

True Fire Flash — 200 squares
Red — 100 squares
Old Brookville Green — 100 squares
Dull Green — 75 squares

Matching trim for every color:

Some background on the tile itself: The Imperial Closed Shingle was an established Ludowici-Celadon product by the 1910s — a small-format, flat-faced interlocking terra cotta tile that gives a roof the orderly appearance of individual shingles while delivering the durability, fire resistance, and weather protection of dense high-fired clay. At 11.6 lbs. per square foot installed and a Class A fire rating, this is about as serious as a roofing material gets.

This is the Ludowici Norman. And this particular lot is something special.

The Norman profile takes its name from Normandy, France — where flat clay shingle tiles have been the dominant roofing material since the Middle Ages. Dense, heavy, deeply textured. Built to handle Atlantic gales, cold winters, and a century of exposure. Ludowici brought that tradition to America and has been producing this profile in New Lexington, Ohio since the early 1900s.

What makes our reclaimed lot different from anything you can order new: these tiles have been on a roof long enough to develop a surface the factory simply cannot replicate. Deep weathered blacks. Natural lichen colonizing the cratered dimple texture. A warm red-brown clay body exposed at the edges. On a roof, they don't read as uniform — they read as a surface with genuine history.

One of the most historically significant interlocking profiles we carry — and one of the hardest to source — is the Ludowici Early American Old Type. We call it the EAOT. We have over 20 pallets in stock right now.

The EAOT is a historic Ludowici profile. It is not in current standard production. Ludowici can reproduce it, but doing so requires a custom manufacturing run with extended lead times. If you need it for a near-term project, what we have in the yard is the answer.

Specs straight from Ludowici's own datasheet:

I have hundreds of squares of Ludowici Americana 14" in stock right now — and it may be the most versatile interlocking profile Ludowici has ever made.

The Americana features a lightly pressed bark texture with a gently rounded butt. It reads as refined but with a rustic character — the kind of roof that works equally well on a historic craftsman, a contemporary estate, or a period-accurate restoration. At 800 lbs. per square and 158 pieces per square, it installs efficiently and performs.
