Opening windows and pointing fans at wet areas makes sense on the surface. Airflow dries things, right?
Not quite.

Fans move air across surfaces. They don't pull moisture out of the materials underneath.

Carpet padding holds water like a sponge. Drywall absorbs and keeps it. Subfloor plywood swells. None of that gets resolved with a box fan running for a few days.
