Been working on framing repairs and corrections for some time now, finally making progress on getting things taken care of. Been a long road with a lot of hard work and sweat going into making thing happen. Found that the trusses have been stressed at the bottom of the roof area. From above in the attic, you could see things have been pushed down causing bowing in what is called the upper cord. Some 2x6’s and additional support will help distribute the load for that area, along with all the other work that has gone on. Hurricane ties, better ventilation, correcting wiring runs, start of new duct work and more have taken place. Finally getting close to having the framing taken care of. A lot of what was found goes back to materials used, how the build and other work was done.

The original building of a home or any structure is not done correctly multiple problems can and does happen. Here Creative Ideas Carpentry By Brian Tenney is preforming the rough framing repairs that have been going on with the trusses and roof sheathing along with other areas. When the rafters or trusses are not located where the building planes determine or someone does not have the knowledge of what it is they are working with and the loads that need to be structurally carried or support; it can compromise the integrity of not just the roof but other areas of the home as well. Roof sheathing (plywood or OSB) should have H clips or plywood clips between the rafters or trusses to properly support the joint to distribute the load. If not separation of the joint and other problems can take place. Additional rough framing is needed to be done to the back area of this town home. Getting additional 2x4 material glued and screwed to trusses that are spaced apart more than 24” on center to properly carry the load. Where the roof sheathing meets also installing 2x4 material to properly support the joint to distribute the load. There were so many H clips missing from the where the roof sheathing sections meet it was decided to just go through and take care of things. There is still more corrections to be made to the framing of the home overall. This is just some of the work that has taken place.
