Earlier this year we lost a job to a cheaper bid.
This in itself is ok and happens, but what is not ok is when we are back at the property and see why the other bid was cheaper and seeing that this project will fail quickly costing the customer more money in the future.
Even though this little job is as simple as a border around a tree it should still be built to the proper specs and have a stone base and at minimum half of a block buried in the ground to create a strong foundation that won’t move for a long time.
If you look at the work done on this little wall there is no base and no partial block buried underneath. Instead the contractor cut corners and used the dirt as a base and as the elevation changed around the tree they mounded up the dirt to keep everything level.
To anyone that is looking over different bids or looking to hire a contractor make sure to ask questions about the process so you have confidence that the work being completed is built to last.
