At The Logan condos in Oakland, the entry passageway becomes something else entirely.

Flanked by lush living walls and the sound of cascading water, the street-level approach feels like walking through a fern-lined canyon. Though each side gets different light, the planting stays cohesive—anchored in ferns and adaptable species, with subtle ribbons of Carex ‘Evergold’ pulling you inward.

In the lobby, a large preserved moss installation carries the sense of calm inside.

A contemporary nod to the classic conservatory.

This living wall installation takes cues from Victorian-era glasshouses, with sculptural staghorn ferns as focal points and a restrained mix of species that shift gently from light to deep green. From a distance, the planting reads as a quiet mosaic—layered, cohesive, and refined.

Calm, textural, and intentionally understated.

Multiple plant walls shape the experience at this site.

Along the driveway, a lush living wall uses texture and movement to gently pull you inward—wind-tolerant Lomandra catching the breeze, asparagus fern adding fine, layered detail. Elsewhere on the property, two more walls play off the same plant palette.

Together, they balance softness, motion, and vibrancy—all designed to handle the wind.

One of our proudest walls.

Rising four stories along a residential courtyard façade, this living wall was designed with BDE Architecture to bring a striking vertical landscape into the city.

It stretches from the second to the fifth floor—visible to residents above and to pedestrians passing below—inviting people to look up and experience greenery woven into the architecture.

The palette was designed to feel alive from every angle. Agapanthus, vibrant heucheras, oxalis, and other richly scaled species create depth and color, while sweeping ribbons of Lomandra move gently in the breeze.

Behind the scenes, the wall is installed over a specialized waterproofed façade system and maintained by swing stage—an example of how living walls can operate successfully at scale!

A sun-drenched courtyard, softened by a lush living wall.

At Kennedy Wilson’s headquarters in Los Angeles, greenery becomes part of the daily workplace experience: a calm visual anchor, a moment of retreat, and a more inviting environment for employees and visitors alike.

Designed in collaboration with Wolcott Architecture, this project shows how biophilic design can help transform workplace settings into spaces that support mood, focus, and overall well-being.

A courtyard like this reminds us that even in the middle of a busy city, the workplace can still make room for restoration.

Introducing our first living walls in New York.

After years in development, the first phase of our work at 60 Wall Street is officially installed: two new living walls within the building’s newly reimagined public lobby.

These walls are part of a much larger biophilic vision for the 47-story Manhattan tower. Still to come: a 100-foot-tall feature wall that will become the largest indoor living wall in North America, along with eight suspended living “stalactites” designed to bring greenery into the full height of the atrium.

For the plant palette, David Brenner drew inspiration from the vivid patterning of rainbow eucalyptus bark and the warm, radiant color of Manhattanhenge. In a nod to the site itself, the full palette includes 60 different plant species for 60 Wall Street.

As the remaining elements take shape, the space will continue to transform into a layered, living environment designed to calm, energize, and draw visitors upward toward the atrium’s monumental skylight.

At Mission Rock’s Verde building, the inspiration came straight from the landscape.

Working with Studio Gang, we designed these living walls to echo the geologic striations of the Marin Headlands—those layered rock formations shaped by uplift and time. The planting follows that same banded rhythm, visually tying the two walls together.

Geranium, ceanothus, muehlenbeckia, heuchera, and carex build the foundation, with seasonal bursts of clarkia wildflowers woven through for a shifting, ephemeral feel. Brighter greens help the composition pop against the façade while reinforcing Verde’s identity.

Ten years ago this month, David Brenner’s “The Living Wall” came to life at SFMOMA.

“The Living Wall” is a multi-sensory experience. Designed to capture the essence of a Northern California forest floor, it immerses visitors in a richly layered composition of texture, movement, and seasonal change. Orange-tinged huckleberry tips, pink flowering currant, and campanula provide bursts of color among a sea of green. Leaves flutter in the breeze, bees and butterflies move among the blooms, and the wall comes alive with subtle movement and sound.

A decade later, “The Living Wall” continues to evolve. As both sculpture and garden, with nature itself as the medium, the work is never static or experienced the same way twice. 

Here’s to many more years of inviting visitors to slow down, tune into nature, and reconnect with the living world them.

A construction fence in San Jose is blooming with wildflowers thanks to Meadowall™.

This recent install is a perfect example of what our seeded living wall system can do in just a few months: bring nature right where we need it most!

Typical construction sites are unwelcoming and largely devoid of life. Meadowall™ helps bridge that nature gap, creating a habitat for local pollinators while softening the edge of the site for the surrounding community.

It can also help reduce solar heat, dampen noise, and create a more pedestrian-friendly street.

We recently presented Meadowall™ to the team at the San Francisco Environmental Department.

Meadowall™ is designed to bring nature when we need it most. Places like construction fencing, plazas, civic buildings, schools, transit corridors, and community gathering areas.

As cities look for more ways to soften hardscapes, support biodiversity, and create more welcoming public environments, we see strong potential for Meadowall™ to play a larger role in the everyday city experience.

Thank you to the SF Environmental Department for the thoughtful conversation and for imagining what greener civic spaces can look like.
