We were contacted by a homeowner in Ocean Pines with intermittent garage door opener failure. The garage door service company determined that the unit was functioning properly and the cause of power loss was in the receptacle. Upon inspection, we discovered faulty connections within the door opener receptacle likely due to its ceiling location and being exposed to increased heat pressure from the attic. We replaced the garage door opener receptacle and 2 other receptacles as well as adding a GFI receptacle to protect the entire garage circuit. Now the homeowner's car can be parked in the garage, safe from the coming pollen invasion!

We were called by a condo management company to replace the meter stacks due to being excessively rusty (a side effect of being less than a block from the ocean). Aside from being an eye sore, the covers for the main service breakers were deteriorating, a condition which exposed the breakers to the elements and could potentially compromise electric service to the unit. An Ocean Pines customer had an intermittent breaker tripping when the over-range microwave was in use. Some investigation revealed that it was on the same circuit as the kitchen lighting. It is likely an old circuit, designed for a simple hood, that had been made into a receptacle for the microwave in a previous remodel. We remedied the problem by pulling in a new home run to feed the receptacle for the microwave. While we were there we also pulled in a dedicated circuit for the garage door opener, which eliminated a haphazardly hung extension cord.

A customer in Ocean Pines gave us a call because a GFI was tripping when the pond heater kicked on while someone was using a hair dryer at the same time. We discovered the pond receptacles were tapped off the bathroom GFI circuit. 🤦🏻 We fixed the issue by installing a dedicated circuit for the fish pond with a GFI breaker in the panel. Happy hair, happy fish!
(Bonus: while there we also installed a dedicated circuit for an irrigation system that will soon be installed)
