Sound Remodeling & Flooring is seeking a highly skilled Lead Carpenter / Flooring Installer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a craftsman who takes pride in quality work, communicates professionally with customers, and can independently manage projects from start to finish.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience installing all major flooring types, performing finish carpentry, and completing bathroom remodeling projects including tile showers. This individual will serve as a lead installer on job sites and may supervise helpers or subcontractors when necessary.
Responsibilities
Install luxury vinyl plank (LVP/LVT), laminate, hardwood, engineered wood, carpet, sheet vinyl, and tile flooring
Measure, plan, and execute flooring installations with minimal supervision
Install carpet, including stairs, pattern matching, stretching, and seam work
Build and install custom tile showers, including waterproofing systems, shower pans, niches, benches, and tile layouts
Install shower surround systems such as FlexStone and Swanstone
Perform finish carpentry including:
Baseboards
Door and window trim
Crown molding
Wainscoting
Interior doors
Complete minor framing, drywall, painting, and remodeling tasks as needed
Read work orders, plans, and installation specifications
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
Communicate professionally with customers and management
Identify and solve job-site challenges independently
Train and mentor helpers when assigned
Ensure projects are completed efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of flooring installation experience
Experience installing:
Carpet
LVP/LVT
Laminate
Hardwood
Tile flooring
Experience building and installing tile showers
Strong finish carpentry skills
Ability to work independently and manage projects
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift 75+ pounds
Professional appearance and attitude
Strong attention to detail
Preferred
Experience with bathroom remodeling
Ability to perform drywall repair and painting
Experience supervising helpers or apprentices
OSHA certification

Compensation
$25–$40+ per hour, based on experience and skill level.
