Usually the machines of my ‘reserve fleet’, in my heavy equipment retirement home, live peacefully in the woods and tend to keep to themselves while they work an hour or two a week to still feel useful.

When one is broken, they huddle together for comfort.

In a related question, does anyone know how to get a Takeuchi Mini Excavator to swing when it won’t start? The starter is directly over a track and pretty inaccessible.

Concrete demolition doesn't change very much. The equipment changes slightly.

We’ve been at this a while… The left photo is from the mid-1970's in New Britain, Connecticut at a housing development on Willow Street that is now a public park. In the picture is one of our first backhoes, an early-1970's CASE Construction Equipment 680 and a 1965 (or so) Ford Motor Company Superduty 950 with a behemoth 534 industrial engine rated in gallons per mile.

The projects today are very similar, but you won’t see a backhoe in our fleet. They have been pretty much replaced by mini-excavators and skid steers.
