🚽 Please stop flushing “flushable” wipes.
A message from Fitchburg DPW - Wastewater Division:
Please do not flush wipes of any kind down the toilet, even wipes labeled as “flushable.”
The package may say flushable… but that does not mean dissolvable.
Unlike toilet paper, wipes do not break down the same way. They can clog pipes, damage pumps, block sewer lines, cause basement backups, and create expensive maintenance problems for homeowners, businesses, and the City.
The same goes for:
🚫 Feminine hygiene products
🚫 Paper towels
🚫 Tissues
🚫 Cotton swabs
🚫 Floss
🚫 Baby wipes
🚫 Cleaning wipes
🚫 Any other paper or hygiene products
The only things that should go down the toilet are:
✅ Human waste
✅ Toilet paper
That’s it.
A simple choice at home can help protect your plumbing, prevent sewer backups, and save money on repairs. When it comes to wipes and hygiene products… don’t flush them. Trash them. TY!
