In my 25+ years as an Arborist I have never come across a Paw Paw tree with ripe fruit. While a Jersey native they are not very common to see and this week I was lucky enough to come across several of them bearing ripe fruit. The flesh is edible with a custard-like consistency and a tropical fruit flavor. Definitely a treat which I hope to come across again.

This tree just fell down across road. No wind, no rain but look at those mushrooms.
Mushrooms around the base of a tree are a good indication or root rot and immenent tree failure.
Had the Calvary there within an hour for clean up!

While walking back from the chicken coop lastnight I heard a strange noise coming from a tree right off the back of my house. Shined a light and 20’ up I saw this little visitor hanging out. Super psyched to have her making a home there.
Anyone know what kind of owl this is?

Clearing way for another potential storm this weekend. Spring can’t get here fast enough.

We had to take down a 120’ tall Tulip poplar this morning.
Unfortunately the tree was in decline and becoming a safety concern.
