I ran into a intresting situation this morning.
I was quoting a boiler replacement and the homeowner had left a quote from the previous contractor/1/2 ass moonlighter, out in the open by mistake. He hastily grabbed it but not before I could see the name of the person on the quote. I recognized the name, this guy is in business and operating with no licenses. As a business owner we have worked hard to get our licenses and even harder to keep our credentials but there are people out there practicing our trades that can't even follow thru on a course curriculum to get theirs. I understand that skill is not based on the license
but it does show you can complete the task required by law.
I wonder what a insurance claim would look like if something goes wrong?
And to follow up, my quoted value was the same as his and I have significantly more overhead than the has, it goes to show that they will quote what the market will bear.

Combustion air intake and boiler exhaust to close together. Premature failure. Follow the manufacturer guidelines and this could have been avoided.
