We remember every facet of that day.
We were in the middle of the Newport on the Levee project. This was a time before cellphone video was prominent. A group of us were working in the security office and one of the cable contractors had a tiny television. The entire job site was silent. No one knew whether to work or go home to be by our families....we all stayed glued to that tiny television looking for answers. The state of shock and confusion resonated across the job site.
In the following days, we would eat lunch outside overlooking the Cincinnati skyline. Usually, the air traffic would be abundant at that time as flights approached CVG....but eerily, the skies were empty.
At night, we were glued to the TV. The information was overwhelming.....To this day, we are still learning about those hours when time seemed to stand still. With that continual learning....we must never forget.
Never forget those lost that day, never forget the heroism that saved so many, never forget the heroes that never made it out and never forget the heroes who did, and still do, fight the evils of terrorism. We can never rest on our laurels. We must continue to be vigilant with each passing day as, even amid the most mundane activity, evil lurks among us.
Rest in peace heroes. Your legacy will never be forgotten.
God bless this country and all those who belong.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
