Building A Family Business One Lawn At A Time
Armed with my lawn mower and a w**d wacker, Alex at the age of 13, started walking up and down the Westbrook neighborhood streets, knocking on doors asking to mow neighborhood lawns. (See Profile Picture) Fast forward 4 short years later- “Git R Done” lawn mowing has grown from 5 clients in 2014, to well over 200 and is now known as “Pineapple Landscaping LLC.”
In the Winter of 2016, Alex and I decided to partner up and see how big we can grow this little family lawn mowing business. Alex is now a senior at BCC and will be attending the College of New Haven School of Business in the fall. He is still very much involved in the business, but we want him to enjoy his senior year and focus on his studies- so he’s only allowed to work designated hours, much of which is limited to customer relations and marketing.
We don’t believe in annual binding contracts, and don’t spend a whole lot of money on expensive and flashy mailers and advertising. Instead we rely on simple door hangers, word of mouth and when we want to splurge- we might place some Facebook ads. By doing so, this allows us to invest and hire the best landscapers in the business, and as always, we try to pass the savings on to our clients with fair prices and superior service.
No job is too big or small and you don’t even need to be a regular client to have us mow your lawn should you need some help from time to time because of vacations or the kid’s soccer games.
