In all of Pennsylvania the Palmerton Zinc Superfund Site is the only one with a visitor/ information center. After almost a century of refining zinc and dumping the waste slag along the Aquashicola Creek the owners of the refinery were ordered to restore damaged/polluted areas near the Lehigh Gap. Restoration efforts have been on going for 20 years with notable success with revegetating the area. More can be learned on the project website, see link, https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/cursites/csitinfo.cfm?id=0300624.
