You are not choosing a plaster color. You are choosing what shade your water will be for the next decade. 🎨

One of the most consequential decisions in a pool remodel gets made from a handful of dry sample chips held in a showroom. That is worth slowing down. 🎨

Here is what actually determines the color you will see in your finished pool.

🔹 The finish color itself, but as it appears wet rather than dry. Almost every finish darkens and saturates when submerged, and the difference is significant.

🔹 Water depth. The same finish reads lighter in a three foot shallow end and considerably deeper in an eight foot deep end, because you are looking through more water. A pool with a large depth change will show a real gradient.

🔹 Aggregate size and texture. A polished small aggregate reflects light differently than an exposed larger pebble, which scatters it. Two finishes labelled the same color can read very differently for this reason.

🔹 Surroundings. Deck color, coping tone, nearby walls, and mature planting all reflect into the water. A pool under heavy tree cover reads greener than the same finish in an open yard. 🌳

🔹 Light conditions. Midday sun, overcast, and evening all render the same pool differently.
