With the power outage and extreme wind-when the power goes off and comes back on it can be damaging to anything with micro circuitry and inductive loads(_anything with a motor). If you are comfortable doing so, we would recommend unplugging or turning off such equipment(furnaces, refrigerator, freezers) . Once the power is restored, these items could be turned back on. Unplugging or turning them off will help prevent damage during power spikes.

A winter storm is still set to impact the area beginning tonight with several inches of snow and dramatic drop in temperatures. We added a little weather terminology to help distinguish the difference between snow accumulation and snowfall. We can't be the only weather nerds who enjoy weather tidbits!
