A deck doesn’t have to be falling apart to need some attention.

This deck was actually in pretty good shape, but years of exposure to the Montana sun had faded the existing finish and left areas where the stain was beginning to wear away.

The homeowner took care of replacing a couple of damaged boards, and then we went to work refreshing and protecting the rest of the deck.

When a house has been standing for more than 100 years, the exterior is bound to have a few stories to tell — and a few layers of paint to go along with them.

The trim on this 1918 home had been painted and repainted over the years. Eventually, those old layers began peeling and failing, and simply putting another coat of paint over the top wasn't going to solve the problem.

So we went back to the basics.

• Scraped away loose and failing paint
• Sanded rough edges and problem areas
• Put in the prep work needed to create a sound surface
• Gave the exterior a clean, fresh finish while keeping the character of this century-old home

Projects like this aren't about making an old house look brand new. They're about giving it the attention it needs so its original character can shine again.

Another exterior refresh completed — bringing new life back to a weathered gazebo.

Over time, exposure to the elements can cause exterior coatings to peel, fade, and lose their original appearance. The trim on the windows had been peeling and the exposed wood was in desperate need of some TLC>

We carefully sanded and scraped the peeling areas, applied Sherwin-Williams PrimeRx® Peel Bond Primer to help create a solid foundation, and finished the project with two coats of Sherwin-Williams Duration® Exterior Acrylic Latex in Extra White.

The result is a clean, refreshed look with a durable finish designed to stand up to the Montana weather and provide years of enjoyment for the folks at Westpark Retirement Village.

We recently completed a full exterior refresh on a home here in Billings, giving it a clean, modern look and significantly improving its curb appeal.

The original white exterior had faded and shown signs of wear, while the outdated green trim and shutters made the home feel tired and dated. We removed the shutters entirely to open up the front of the home, then refreshed the body with a clean, bright white finish.
